Legends has multiple aircraft for specific missions. We not only do glacier tours and flight instruction, but support mining operations, remote off airport cargo and passenger service, including fishermen, rafting, hiking and drop camps.
Legends offers fly out fishing to Yentna Station and Skwentna where fish guides , boats and lodging are available. For the do it yourself crowd we do drop camps to a remote mine strip with good trout and salmon fishing mid-June through September. This is a remote area with bears and moose. Your generally on your own and out of normal cell phone range. If you’re the Alaskan wilderness type and want some adventure, this may be for you. Call for pricing.
Historic Iditarod Sled Dog Trail
This tour leaves the Willow, Alaska airport and has two options: Fly 20 air miles direct to the Yentna Station, Iditarod trail sled dog race check point #1 on the Yentna River, or 40 miles directly to the historic village of Skwentna, Iditarod check point #2 on the Skwentna River. The flight circles the check point for pictures, then returns to Willow.
To Check Point #1 for up to three passengers is $360, ($120 each) For up to five passengers, $475, ($95 each)
To Check Point #2– $450 for up to three passengers, ($150 each) For up to five passengers $600, ($120 each).
Landings: All landings at either check point is an additional $150 per plane load.
Dr. Suess House
This unique structure, located 19 air miles north of Willow, Alaska, rises to about 185 feet. It definitely resembles a unique structure from the beloved children’s books. The tour departs the Willow airport and does several turns at a safe altitude around the structure, then meanders along the Big Susitna River back to Willow for a landing. The tour lasts about one half hour.
– $300 for up to three passengers ($100 each).
– $400 for up to five passengers ($80 each).
Land On A Glacier
Depending on conditions, Glacier landings on the upper Knik and Lake George glaciers are available with ski equipped planes. Landings at the toe of the Knik glacier in a bush plane equipped with large tundra tires are generally always an option. We land on a gravel bar at the terminal moraine, and hike about 10 minutes to outer Lake George and explore the ice bergs and the face of the Knik glacier across the glacier lake. Surrounded by high mountains with the Knik and Colony glaciers in full view, endless ice bergs and wild flowers, make this an up close and personal experience of a life time.
– Maximum passengers for any glacier landing is three.
– The gravel bar landing at the Knik glacier is three to five passengers.
– Price is $150 additionally for the plane load for any landing in addition to the price of the glacier tour you choose.
No landings are available for Mt. McKinley tours.
